About AAT (Fiji) Ltd |
AAT is owned and operated by Wayne and Deborah Hinton originally from Australia.
They now live full time in Fiji and have done for the past 5 years. The Chief Flying instructor and Managing Director of AAT is Wayne Hinton, holder of an ATPL licence (Airline Transport Pilots Licence) with over 22,000 flying hours and more than 11,000 instructing hours. The Director of Training is Deborah Hinton, ATPL, over 7000 flying hours and an ex-Training Captain on the Fairchild Metro Turboprop aircraft. AAT commenced operations in May 2002 initially as a Ground Theory School using a CBT (Computer-Based Training) system. AAT has sole rights to this state of the art theory training program in the Pacific region. Over 90% of AAT students exceed the required pass mark of 70% in their first sitting of the exams. AAT is the only school that has the CAAFI's (Civil Aviation Authority of the Fiji Islands) approval to undertake the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) approved 150 Hour Commercial Pilots License Course. In addition, AAT is the only aviation school that has Fiji Department of Education approval. Shortly after starting operations, AAT decided to undertake full flight training, with the Cessna 172RG selected as the basic trainer. This gives the student exposure to retractable undercarriage and constant speed propeller. The BN2 islander is used for Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings. AAT was the first to import the Swiss Elite PI - 158 SFT (Synthetic Flight Trainer) into Fiji for ease of instrument training. Nadi, Fiji was chosen as a training venue due to its proximity to the airport, variety of navigational aids and most of all the great flying weather. |
