Courses
At AAT we offer 2 paths to gaining your PPL, one offers the traditional route taking up to 3 months for an Ab-Initio student the other allows you to obtain an ICAO PPL within 3 weeks.
"The Professional Pilots Licence"
This course will provide the student with the coveted CPL/MECIR license and a pass in Basic Gas Turbine Theory, all of which are essential for anybody aspiring to work for the airlines.
The course commences several times a year and includes an extensive theory course and a minimum of 150 hours of flying in both single and twin engined aircraft. At the successful completion of the course, the candidate will hold an ICAO recognised Fijian Commercial Pilots Licence with a Command Instrument Rating and a Multi-Engined aircraft endorsement.

Duration: 12 months

Theoretical Training:  At Advance Aviation we use a combination of Computer Based Training and lectures. We are able to provide students with instruction for the CPL, Instrument Rating and Basic Gas Turbine exams of Australia (CASA). The short version one year course allows for a minimum of 150 flying hours to Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating; Basic Gas Turbine theory and Fiji Commercial Pilots Licence. A maximum of 20 hours instrument training will be undertaken in our synthetic flight trainer.

The CPL Course includes the
BAK, FRTO and Air Law subjects, the student need not sit the other PPL courses, along with more advanced subjects as follows :-

Aerodynamics
  Aeroplane General Knowledge
  Aircraft Performance
  Meteorology
  Navigation
  Human Performance and Limitations
  Instrument Rating Theory (IREX)
  Basic Gas Turbines (BGT)

Each of the subjects above are examined separately by the CAAFI. Examinations, except BGT, are available using the Australian Cyber exam system each week. Any exam that the candidate fails may be re-sat after a period of revision study (usually 2 weeks).

Flying Training : A candidate must have a minimum of 150 hours flight time prior to being recommended for a flight test with CAAFI. Licences are issued by CAAFI. If the candidate has not reached the required standard for testing then additional flying may be required.

The flying is conducted in a single engine aircraft, our CAAFI approved Elite PI-158 SFT and the twin endorsement in an aircraft such as the Brittan Norman Islander.

This is a theory course only there is no flying involved in the course. Holders of a CPL must have passes in the ATPL subjects before they will be considered for a position with international airlines.
This course can be commenced at any time after completing the CPL theory subjects and we recommend students who plan to do these subjects start the course as soon after their CPL theory as possible. The exams are those set by the Australian Authorities. The ATPL theory is recognised directly by the Fijian Authorities only.

The advanced subjects cover theory relating to the operation of large jet and turbo-prop aircraft. The course consists of a combination of lectures and private study with assignments being set by the course co-ordinator. Some subjects also involve the use of computer simulation programs to familiarise the candidate with the cockpit environment of aircraft such as the Boeing 747.

The subjects covered are:-

Navigation
  Meteorology
  Human Factors
  Flight Planning
  Aerodynamics and Aircraft General Knowledge
  Aircraft Performance

3 Week Pre-Study PPL Course
This route to your PPL license is designed to take advantage of our excellent weather, low cost of aircraft hire and the acceptance of UK, Australian or NZ exam passes in PPL subjects by the CAA of Fiji.

The student will have already obtained passes in the PPL exams of one of the 3 countries listed above via our theory partners in those countries. Then after arrival in Fiji, we will undertake an intensive flight training course of
3 weeks duration and on average a maximum of 60 Hours flight time. After this period of training a successful flight test with a CAAFI approved examiner will provide you with a Fiji PPL recognised by ICAO.

We believe this course is ideal for students who wish to gain a PPL in a short space of time and at a low cost, it allows you to take a holiday from work and bring your partner to the beautiful islands of Fiji.

Many other training organisations use very basic PPL training aircraft, with our training aircraft being the Cessna 172RG you will already have learned how to operate a complex aircraft and not need to undergo further type training upon your return.
We also offer a 3 Month PPL course that combines theory and flight training.

Theoretical Training: The theory is conducted in our classrooms at Nadi. The subjects are presented in a combination of lectures and computer based training with personal tuition available with our instructors. The subjects covered are as follows.

Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK)
The BAK course is completed as part of both the PPL and CPL courses. The examination is sat at the school.

Aeroplane Operation, Performance and Planning            Meteorology
Aeroplane General Knowledge                                         Navigation
The PPL examination is sat at the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji Islands (CAAFI). Subject matter from the BAK section of the course is also examinable again at this time.

Fiji Air Law
The examination in Fiji Air Law is set by and sat at CAAFI.

Flight Radio Telephone Operators (FRTO) theory

The FRTO examination is sat at our school

Flying Training : A candidate must have a minimum of 40 hours flight time prior to being recommended for a flight test. In our experience, a figure of 60 hours total flying time is a realistic figure for a PPL candidate. Flight tests are conducted by an officer from CAAFI.  Licences are issued by CAAFI. If the candidate has not reached the required standard for testing then additional flying may be required.
